Seed $2M (5 days ago) | Allison Wood Ventures et al. | US
A personal chef, on-demand.
CookinGenie gives clients the option to hire a personal chef-or 'Genie' - for an event. Customers choose from a menu of available meals and schedule a date and time. Their Genie does all the rest from shopping to meal prep, cooking, and cleaning. Genies can cook for any occasion, from a two-person date-night dinner to family gatherings, brunches, and elaborate dinner parties. CookinGenie is constantly expanding its diversity of chefs and menu offerings, and the company tests each potential chef to ensure their talents are up to the founders’ high standards. Co-founders CookinGenie co-founders Sabah Drabu and Abhijit Ganguly said: “We want to change how people think of personal chefs,” Drabu said. “Most people think personal chefs are only for celebrities, but we wanted to create a marketplace where anyone can find and book a talented chef in their area in minutes.”

💰 Help bootstrapped SaaS businesses in your country raise capital with a service like Founderpath
Angel $230K (5 days ago) | Gaingels et al. | US
Turning monthly subscriptions in upfront cash.
Founderpath helps SaaS companies increase cash flow without diluting ownership by offering loans based on their monthly recurring revenue and a SaaS credit score. Typically, founders can get 11 months of their monthly recurring revenue paid upfront, usually at the cost of one additional month of recurring revenue. The company, founded in late 2019, has had 1,500 founders connect to its platform and hundreds have taken payouts, founder Nathan Latka said. Looking for ways to increase cash on hand without raising large funding rounds that cause ownership dilution has become popular with SaaS companies. Founderpath competes with a handful of platforms looking to lend based on a company’s monthly, quarterly or annual recurring revenue, including Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Capchase and Los Angeles-based Pipe. Despite the competition, there are many opportunities to start a similar service focusing on a specific vertical or region.

👩💻 Launch a remote talent matchmaking business like Supersourcing in your region or vertical
Seed $500K (5 days ago) | Kube VC et al. | India
Building the future of IT outsourcing.
Supersourcing operates a platform for businesses in need of software engineers for specific projects or contracts. It has signed up hundreds of software development agencies – small contractors, typically with 100 to 200 engineers on their books – to provide the staff these businesses need. Supersourcing matchmakes on behalf of the two sides; in addition, once an appointment is made, it manages the contract, ensuring the engineer gets paid and monitoring performance, providing both sides with an opportunity to give feeback. Mayank Pratap, CEO of Supersourcing argues, that both sides need his services. Agencies with engineers to offer do not have a way to pitch their specialists to a worldwide audience. And when their engineers do land contracts, managing these engagements is hard work; the agency must deal with multiple employers to ensure its developers are getting paid, and that the contract is going well for both sides. Supersourcing takes both these problems off the agency’s hands.

The startup is trying to usher in a new segment of home food delivery while also aiming to operate in a large $60B meal kit market. Scoulelis says home dining has increased drastically post-pandemic but fine food lovers only have limited options. With choices limited to food delivery companies like UberEats or recipe kits like HelloFresh, the co-founders say, fine dining experience is lost at home.

📈 Build a “friendly” fundraising tool like Givebutter for a specific use-case
Seed $7M (6 days ago) | Allen Gannett et al. | US
A profitable, all-in-one fundraising tool for nonprofits.
Givebutter operates a free fundraising platform for nonprofits. Nonprofits use Givebutter to replace multiple categories of tools, including donation forms, fundraisers, events, donor management (CRM), email, texting, and more. Society is more generous than ever, with the "Changemaker Generation" collectively powering $471B in donations in 2020, making it the most charitable year on record. Early reports suggest that 2021 was even greater. Despite this unprecedented generosity and push for social change, nonprofits continue to face economic challenges stemming from the pandemic and other macro events. In today's progressive but uncertain climate, having low-cost and effective fundraising tools to empower digitally-native changemakers has never been more critical. After seeing over a million changemakers raise $300 million+ in donations using Givebutter’s platform during the past two years, the startup achieved a rare feat amongst startups: profitable, sustainable growth.
